My friend has been a C7 quad for 35 years. He has severe scoliosis and is also an above the knee double amputee. His doctor would only prescribe hydrocodone and has now decided to send him to Houston TX to a pain management doctor, and will not prescribe anything for pain now. The doc claims that he can’t feel pain because he’s paralyzed, but I’ve tested my friend by making sure he can’t see me and then touching his back…he DOES have sensation all the way down to his tailbone and does feel pain when I press on his lower back…any suggestions???
Scott B: yes, he does say he has pain and I can tell he’s in pain just from watching his face. He’s been paralyzed since he was 17 yrs old and is now 51. He’s never been offered surgery by a doctor, but when I mentioned there are surgical options he refuses to even consider any surgery on his back. Its so bad that his body is in an s shape. Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

I am on a long waiting list for MRI. My VA medical Doc prescribed Gabapentin for nerve pain, I am not feeling any relief taking this med. Plus it does cause me to sleep some, which causes the pain to go past a level 10 upon awaking, due to my back being locked up. Its better to move around than sleep. By the way the pain is lower back, shoots down both legs.
I am also on a long waiting list for water therapy.

I saw the orthopeadist twice who gives me skelaxin and celebrix which does nothing. I also tried relafin, and some others. Tomorrow I am seeing a psysiologist. I swear this is so painful. My friend gave me a vicoden and not even that helped.

I have lupus which makes my osteoarthritis in my neck and back worse. My Doctor told me I have malignant knots, and I was given trigger point injections in neck and back. He accidently stuck the needle in my lung, and I ended up in the hospital. (No law suit). - I have also been in physical therapy, message therapy, do yoga, and lift weights, I have been on medication to reduce inflammation and relaxe muscles. Nothing has worked. I have had this pain for 3 years straight. - I developed this problem after my husband died of cancer. Also, my aunt of 48 died after being diagnosed with 19 brain tumors. I am the same age, and I pay Kaiser $600.00 a month out of my own pocket to keep my health benefits. My Dr. visits and med’s also cost alot of money. I am going broke and my pain is a 12 on a scale of 1 - 10. - Is there a specific test I shoud ask for, or can I get rid of this problem and live a normal life. I get dizzy and see stars!

I have been to three different doctors. One being a Neuro Surgen and cause they couldn’t find anything they write me off. My back pain is so bad that I’m 34 and walk like and old lady( no offence). Andrea - thank you for your kindness - it is much appreciated. Yes, I did see a chiropractor a few years back, and it helped. This time around, I feel worse - the only thing that managed to help me somewhat was a TENS unit given to me by my chiropractor.
